An upcoming film titled Thaami is to deal with the dangerous passion today’s youths have been displaying for talking selfies.
We often come across disturbing newspaper reports informing that some youth had died while attempting to take ‘selfie’ in front of speeding train or on top of a cliff, etc.
Debutant director Praveen, who hasn’t worked with any director prior to attempting Thaami, is confident of making a strong, constructive impact with his film. “I grew up watching Shankar’s films and films produced by my friend,” he says.
Hailing from Tiruvallur, VISCOM graduate Praveen is of the opinion that such a film is a ‘must’ in today’s jet-age. “Nowadays, there is almost nobody who wants to take a ‘selfie’; unfortunately, it has cost many promising youths their own lives and to many parents the precious lives of their children. I wanted to put an end to this ‘menace’ and decided to launch Thaami.
“Like it is done in Hollywood, there are only three prominent characters in the film which I have shot in a manner which has never been attempted thus far by any Tamil film-maker,” assures Praveen.
