Success, it is said, brings with it some responsibilities as well as crises in plenty. Vijay Sethupathi, the fast-rising star in Kollywood, feels it right now as two of his films are scheduled to hit theatres back-to-back and within eight days.
No hero worth his name would like his films releasing in successive weeks as it would surely result in one or both the films not getting the desired attention of fans, critics and movie-goers. As such, the industry waits to see what Vijay Sethupathi, who has also donned the hat of a producer, would be doing to avert such a scenario which looms large now.
Soodhu Kavvum fame Nalan Kumarasamy had directed Kadhulum Kadandhu Pogum starring Vijay Sethupathi and newcomer Madonna in lead roles. The film had been in the making for many months. Billed as a romantic comedy, it is slated to release in theatres next Friday i.e. on 12th February on the eve of Valentine’s Day falling on 14th February.
Vijay Sethupathi’s Sethupathi, in which he plays for the first time and has been paired up for the second time opposite his Pizza heroine Ramya Nambeesan, is slated to release on 19th February, as per an announcement made by the film’s producers some time back.
Two films of the same hero releasing back-to-back might create problems in getting the desired theatres as well as in catching audiences’ interest in them. It now remains to be seen how Vijay Sethupathi would handle the issue.
