Producer-director A.R. Murugadoss has urged frontline and leading heroes to patronize talented new directors by introducing them in their films.
Murugadoss made the comments while taking part in the audio-launch of an upcoming film titled Kanithan which stars Atharvaa and Catherine Tresa in lead roles.
Scheduled to release in theatres in the first week of March, Kanithan is an action-packed thrilled directed by T.N. Santhosh. ‘Drums’ Sivamani has scored the film’s music while Arvind Krishna is the film’s cinematographer.
A.R. Rahman released the audio-cassettes and CDs of the film which were accepted by Murugadoss and the film’s crew. Speaking on the occasion, Murugadoss said that ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu, producer of Kanithan, helped him a lot when he faced pre-release issues with Kaththi. I’m happy that Santhosh, who was an assistant director with me when I made Kaththi, has been made director by Thanu.
“It is nice to note that Atharvaa, who has just delivered a hit, wants to work with new directors. More than arriving at sets on time and possessing a six-pack abs physique, it is imperative for heroes to patronize new directors by starring in their debut films, similar to what ‘Thala’ Ajith did when he introduced me as director with Dheena. In my view, Ajith and Vijay have introduced many directors in the industry.
“If an established hero stars in five films in an year, he should try to work with debutant directors in at least three of those films,” concluded Murugadoss.
