Despite her amazing talents as an actress, Anjali remains a mystery to many of her fans and well-wishers. Despite the presence of the Trishas and the Nayantaras, Anjali has made her mark in Kollywood with whatever opportunities that had come her way and had always tried her best to dub for her roles in films in her own voice, with a few exceptions.
The actress of substance has somehow not made it to the list of leading heroines in Tamil. There are a variety of reasons for this, first and foremost being the personal issues which forced Anjali to shift her base from Chennai a few years back after she broke up with her Aunt Barathi Devi.
Shunning Tamil films, she concentrated in Telugu and came back briefly by dancing for an ‘item number’ in Suriya’s Singam 2.
She now has a handful of films in Tamil in Iraivi, Mapla Singam, Taramani, Peranbu, Kalakalappu 2 and Kaanbathu Poi and a few projects in Telugu as well.
Though her latest Telugu film Dictator has become a hit film, Anjali has announced that she was ready to reduce her fee per film if the script was good and if the producer planned to make the film at a moderate budget.
She also has her Madha Gaja Raja opposite Vishal lying in cold storage for the past few years. The shoot of the film was wrapped up in 2013 itself but for various reasons, the film hasn’t yet been released.
