Pretty-looking Surabhi, who played Vikram Prabhu’s heroine in Ivan Veramathiri in 2013, hasn’t had any release in Tamil even after two years. Awaiting the release in theatres of Pugazh opposite Jai, Surabhi spoke to newsmen recently when she expressed her desire to play ‘Rani of Jhansi’ in a period-type venture as grand as Baahubali or Rudhramaadevi.
Many actresses in the past had expressed their desires at various phases in their careers to play the Queen of Jhansi who courageously took on the British aggressors. It is now the turn of the 22-year old Surabhi, a Fine Arts graduate from Delhi, to express her wish to play ‘Jhansi’s queen’ in a film.
“I played a very innocent-looking heroine in Ivan Veramathiri as I hardly had a chance to choose my role in my debut film. I have played a bold girl’s character in Pugazh; though I don’t have many offers in Tamil, I’m busy with my Telugu film projects. I love Chennai a lot and I now miss the city and the ‘positive vibration’ I get whenever I’m at Chennai.
“I don’t know Tamil but get my Tamil dialogues penned in English, by-heart them and speak during the shoot. I always want to opt for scripts which provide some scope for the heroines to act. I love playing lead roles in period-type ventures such as Bajirao Mastani and would take up the offer to play ‘Queen of Jhansi’ at any time,” she says.
