Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who has essayed the heroine in director Bala’s just-released Tharai Thappattai, has said that she got the offer to star in the film based not on the recommendation of Vishal (rumoured as lover in sections of the press) buy by the recommendation of her friend and actress Sangeetha.
Sangeetha, who played a prominent role in Bala’s Pithamagan, reportedly spoke to Bala about Varalaxmi’s dancing and acting prowess which enabled the latter in getting the role of Sooravali in Tharai Thappattai opposite Sasikumar. The film, which is also Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s 1000th film as a music composer, has been received positively by the audiences as well as critics.
Speaking to newsmen prior to the film’s release in theatres at a meet-the-press event, Varalaxmi made it clear that it wasn’t Vishal (who played the lead role along with Arya in Bala’s Avan Ivan a few years back) who got her the offer to star in the film.
“Who said so? It was Sangeetha who was responsible in me getting the offer to star in Bala Sir’s film; I was chosen apparently because it’s script requires lots of dancing.
“I trained hard for many weeks and only then reported for shooting the film,” says Varalaxmi whose dancing skills and acting prowess have been lauded by critics, her fans and movie-goers.
