C. Raajadurai, who worked as director under Manojkumar in many films before finally debuting as director in the latter’s I Love You Da in late 2002, got shunted away from Kollywood as his debut film was an utter failure.
Starring choreographer-actor Raju Sundaram and Simran in the lead, I Love You Da got poor reviews and made an early exit from theatres after its release in Nov., 2002.
It had taken Raajadurai 13 long years to find a producer and convince him of his script to produce his second directorial venture titled as Seeni. Oviya Helan plays the heroine in the film opposite two debuting heroes in Sanjay and Bharat Ravi.
Madurai Selvam’s Velammal Cine Creations produces Seeni which features a huge star-cast in Radha Ravi, Senthil, ‘Paruthiveeran’ Saravanan, ‘power star’ Srinivasan, ‘Ganja’ Karuppu, Chinni Kayanth, Vaiyapuri, Ravimariah, Doss, T.P.Gajendran, Manojkumar, Bawa Lakshmanan, ‘Lollu Sabha’ Swaminathan, Meera Krishnan and Bhuvana. Censor Board, which recently watched the film, granted it ‘U’ certificate.
Oviya plays a progressive-thinking journalist working with a private television channel in the film which has an elephant ‘Sita’ in a prominent role.
Senthil, who plays the mahout, has taken up a prominent role in a film after many years. Srinivasan plays a dual role in the film which has music by Srikant Deva. Seeni is to release in theatres in the last week of January.
