Comedian Santhanam, who appears to have taken a conscious decision to play only the lead roles in films from now onwards and not the hero’s side-kick, has named his next production venture with him in the lead as Server Sundaram.
Anand Balki, a former assistant director under Mani Ratnam, debuts as director in Kollywood with Server Sundaram, named after a legendary film starring late comedian Nagesh which released in the sixties. The film would go to floors soon. It may be recalled that Santhanam has already started work on his upcoming film directed by Rambala of ‘Lollu Sabha’ fame.
Santhosh Narayanan would be scoring the music of the film. Whether the film would be a frame-by-frame remake of the Nagesh-starrer or only the title has been borrowed would be known in the next few weeks. Santhanam plays a cook in the film. The film’s shoot is likely to commence on Pongal Day (15th January).
