Nadigar Sangam has asserted that it won’t sack Simbu as a member of the Sangam for his involvement in the ‘beep’ song controversy. It has, however, said that it would be sending a notice to veteran actress Radhika for saying that the Sangam had betrayed Simbu on the issue.
Simbu is in trouble for singing the ‘beep’ song and remains untraceable despite best efforts by the police. His bail plea is pending with the High Court of Madras even as he is supposed to appear before the Coimbatore police on 02nd January. Commenting on the issue, Radhika had said a couple of days back that the Sangam had ‘cheated’ Simbu by not coming out in his support.
Nassar, Karthi and Vshal, president, treasurer and general secretary (respectively in that order), denounced Radhika’s statement when they spoke to newsmen after the Sangam’s general council meeting yesterday.
“We condemn the ‘beep’ song and spoke to Simbu in this regard but were told that he would handle the issue on his own. Had he sought apology, the issue would be closed and we could later take it up but this wasn’t the case as Simbu wasn’t ready to tender an apology.
“As the case is sub-judice, there is not much we can do in this. This being the reality, Radhika has criticized us for cheating Simbu for which the general council has decided to serve a notice on her seeking her explanation.
Further, despite the many letters we have received requesting Simbu’s sacking from the Sangam, we haven’t decided to do so and are determined to support him,” the trio said.
