Ameer Sultan a.k.a. Ameer, the director who also starred in a few films including the hugely popular ‘item number’ Kannitheevu ponna with the sizzling Neetu Chandra in Mysskin’s Yuddham Sei (2010), has announced that he would be directing three films next year starring Simbu, Rana Daggubati and Arya in the lead.
Ameer, one of the most notable directors of the current generation and one who is credited by critics for making films as realistic as possible, directed the award-winning Paruthiveeran (2007) which won several awards at international film festivals, fetched the national awards for Priyamani (best actress) and Raja Mohammad (best editor) besides launching Karthi as hero in Kollywood.
Ameer hasn’t made any film in 2015 but has now announced that he would be making not one but three films in 2016. An erstwhile assistant director under Bala, Ameer debuted as director in Kollywood with the Suriya-Trisha starrer Mounam Pesiyadhe in 2002. After the not-so-successful Aadhi Bhagavan which released in 2013, Ameer hasn’t made any film though he announced two directorial ventures.
Ameer’s Simbu-starrer would go to floors from the first week of January while he is in talks with Rana Daggubata for a Tamil-Telugu bilingual which may go to floors in April. His third film in 2016, which would star Aryain the lead, is likely to be launched in the second-half of next year.
Though Ameer didn’t give any hints about these scripts, it is said that one would be a typical rural subject on the lines of Paruthiveeran, the second would be a city-based romantic film while the third script would be an action-packed adventure. Which hero would get which script would only be known in the next few days.
