Lyca Mobiles, which produces superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming Shankar-directed 2.0 (sequel to Rajini-Shankar’s Enthiran: The Robot which released in 2010), has said that it hasn’t bagged the release and distribution rights of Simbu’s upcoming film Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada which is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon.
Shoot of Menon’s Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada, his second film with Simbu after the super-duper hit film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya a few years back, is said to have gone into its last stage. Reports in the media said that Lyka was about to acquire the film’s release and distribution rights of the film, which has newcomer Manjima Mohan opposite Simbu.
Thanks to the ‘beep’ song controversy which has put a huge question mark over the careers of both Simbu as well as music director Anirudh Ravichander, distributors have started to go away from films starring Simbu and having Anirudh’s music. In this backdrop, the fate of Simbu’s long-awaited Idhu Namma Aalu and Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada remains very uncertain.
Raju Mahalingam, creative head of Lyka Mobiles, has said that the firm was now producing Rajini’s 2.0, a G.V. Prakash Kumar-starrer, megastar Chiranjeevi’s next Telugu film and an Akshay Kumar-starrer in Hindi.
“As such, we haven’t acquired the release and distribution of Simbu’s Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada so far and we don’t intend to so in future too,” he clarified adding that Bala’s Tharai Thappattai would be released by Aingaran Films International and not by them.
