Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Enthiran 2, which has been renamed as 2.0, got off with the commencement of the first schedule of shoot on Thursday.
Rajini, back to his French-beard get-up for Dr. Vaseegaran, the role of the scientist he essayed with aplomb along with that of ‘negative’ Robot in Enthiran in 2010, looked as graceful as ever in tracks and suit.
Unit sources say that the budget of the film, touted as India’s most expensive film, could easily beat the collective production cost of S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali (released a few months back) and his upcoming sequel to the film.
Lyka Mobiles, producers of Vijay’s last year’s controversy-ridden Kaththi, are the producers of 2.0 which has Bollywood hunk Akshay Kumar essaying the antagonist’s role.
Amy Jackson of I fame plays a ‘female’ Robot in the film but is not Rajini’s heroine as Unit sources say that talks are on with a ‘top’ Bollywood heroine to play the female lead opposite Rajini. A.R. Rahman is the music director of the film which has its script penned by author Jayamohan. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer, Muthuraj is the art director, Antony is the editor and the Oscar-award winning Resul Pookkutty is the film’s sound designer.
Lyka’s Subashkaran and Mahalingam said that they were not sure of the film’s total budget as of now but added that they expected it to touch the Rs.350 crore mark.
“We would spend whatever is required to ensure that the film turns out very well. We are hopeful that the film would do well in Tamil and Hindi thanks to Rajini and Akshay Kumar’s presence,” they said.
