Trailer of Dhanush’s upcoming film Thanga Magan was released two days back and has met with encouraging response from Dhanush’s fans and movie-goers. However, there has been a great ‘faux pas’ in the trailer.
Velraj, the famed cinematographer who debuted as director with last year’s super-duper hit film Velaiyilla Pattathari, has made his second directorial venture in Thanga Magan which has Dhanush, Amy Jackson and Samantha besides Radhika and K.S. Ravikumar in lead roles. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director.
The trailer is mostly of romantic and action sequences. Dhanush’s character in the film, named as ‘Tamil’, utters many dialogues eulogizing Tamil language.
In one particular sequence in the trailer, Dhanush replies to the villain who threatens to destroy him saying “Nobody can destroy ‘Tamil’; all other languages including English, Korean, German, Chinese or Japanese may lose in Tamil Nadu but not Tamil!”
The irony is that soon after the ‘Tamil’-specific punch-dialogue, the title card appearing alongside says in English that ‘written and directed by R. Velraj’. The director, who took great care to speak about the greatness of Tamil, could have been careful to make the title cards in Tamil to match those dialogues!
