A young and upcoming director Satish Kumar has thrown a ‘bomb’ in Kollywood stating that the title of Vijay’s upcoming film Theri was actually his.
Vijay and controversies go hand-in-hand especially for the past few years. Vijay’s Thalaivaa, Thuppakki, Kaththi and Puli faced problems in releasing in theatres and it now appears that Theri has also joined the list. Directed by Atlee, Theri was earlier named as Khakee, then as Thaarumaaru and finally got its present title.
Director Senthilkumar, who registered the title of Khakee, refused to part with the title and finally, the crew settled for Theri which has an unmistakable Ajith-connect to it as it is part of the ‘punch dialogue’ uttered by Ajith in his lastest blockbuster Vedalam. The first-look posters of Theri were released recently, giving ample hint of Vijay’s dual roles in the film.
Satishkumar has penned on his Facebook account on 04th September, more than two-and-a-half months before the title of Vijay’s film was finalized, stating that he was happy to reveal the title of his upcoming debutant film Theri. He had also recorded that he would start shooting from October.
“The title of Theri was my own as I chose the title more than three months back and even got it registered. Crew of Vijay’s film have ‘hijacked’ the title; I’m not going to fight for the title but would have whole-heartedly given the title to them had they sought it from me formally,” Satish Kumar says.
