Thirunaal, which stars Jiiva and Nayantara in the lead, was to release in theatres towards the end of next month but the makers have now decided to postpone the film’s release by a few weeks to release it on Pongal Day in January.
Along with the lead pair of Jiiva & Nayantara, Pinky Sorcar (Meenakshi in Kollywood) makes her comeback with the film after appearing as an ‘item girl’ in the Vikram Prabhu-Sri Divya starrer Vellaikaara Durai last year.
Karunas and Neeyaa Naanaa fame Gopinath have essayed prominent roles in the film. P.S. Ramnath is the debuant director of the film which brings Jiiva and Nayantara together 9 years after Ee.
Jiiva plays ‘Blade’ Ganesh, a local rowdy while Nayantara plays a teacher working in a play-school. Srikanth Deva, who recently underwent a change in his name when he became ‘Sree’, has composed the film’s music which has been cinematographed by Mahesu Muthuswami.
The film was expected to release in December but it has been announced that it would now be releases on Pongal in January next year.
“Thirunaal spreads the message of destroying the evil and spreading happiness and pleasure everywhere,” says Ramnath eve as Thirunaal joins the Pongal race along with Simbu’s Idhu Namma Aalu, Vishal’s Kathakali, ‘Jayam’ Ravi’s Miruthan and Bala’s Sasikumar-Varalaxmi starrer Tharai Thappattai.
