Nithya Menen, an actress of substance and who has proved herself by taking on a variety of roles in her short career in films, has said that she doesn’t believe in marriage for the simple reason that if she gets married and her husband turns out to be in sharp contrast to what her expectations are, life would become hell!
In a free-wheeling interview, Nithya spoke about many things. “I usually come to the shooting spot without getting accompanied my parents/manager. If somebody misbehaves with me, they would get a fitting reply from me,” says the O Kadhal Kanmani and Kanchana 2 actress. “This shouldn’t mean I’m arrogant; I’d be nice to those who are well-mannered,” she assures.
The actress, who pairs up opposite Suriya in the upcoming film 24, says “Fame only acts adversely for actresses as they get mobbed wherever they go; photographers shoot at will without bothering to take our consent. If actresses keep safe distance, they are branded as ‘arrogant’ and if they get close to others, they are branded otherwise. I don’t get affected by such writings, of course!
“I’m short and don’t have an hourglass figure. It’s not my fault and my physique or body is God’s gift and nobody has the right to criticize it. I’d never sacrifice my food or sleep to become ‘size zero’; in my opinion, it would be foolish to attempt to do so,” she says.
“I fell in love when I was 18 but separated when I felt my life won’t be happy if I lived with him. I might get married if I come across a person who appeals to me in every possible manner. However, I haven’t met him so far. Instead of getting married to the guy who won’t suit my requirements, I feel it would be better for me to remain unmarried,” says Nithya.
