Karthik Naren, a 21-year old youth, makes his debut as a producer as well as a director with an upcoming film titled as Dhuruvangal 16. Rahman, who played a major role in Jyothika’s comeback vehicle 36 Vayidhinile a few months back, plays a prominent role in the film. Interestingly enough, he plays a disabled cop in the film.
Knight Nostalgia Filmotainment is the production house owned by Naren which produces the film. Naren also makes his debut as director in Kollywood with this film.
Sujith Sarang is the cinematographer while Jacks Bijoy has scored the music. “I pursued Mechanical Engineering and quit my degree mid-way. I had the courage to make my directorial debut in films based on my experience in short-film making.
“Dhuruvangal 16 is a crime-thriller which, as the title suggests, has 16 prominent characters in its script. They are diametrically opposite in their behavior.
The script of the film is shown to be taking place in 16 hours and this is also the reason for us to choose this title. Rahman plays a disabled cop who takes up private investigation into cases after his service as police officer.
“We have purposely not kept any songs in the film as we don’t want them to act as ‘speed-breakers’ breaking the flow of the fast-paced script. The film also doesn’t have any heroine. We are now into the post-production stage and plan to release the film in the coming weeks,” informs Naren.
