Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming Shankar-directed Enthiran 2 is likely to release in theatres next January on Pongal Day, it has been reported. As already reported in these columns, the preparatory work or the pre-production work in connection with this film has already commenced.
Shankar and Rajini delivered their second successive super-duper hit film in Enthiran: The Robot which released in 2010 and broke all the box-office records which existed till that date.
Rajini is now busily shooting for his upcoming film Kabali, which is directed by Pa. Ranjith of Madras fame, in Malaysia. The film’s shoot is likely to be wrapped up in January and the film may release on Tamil New Year (April) next year.
Shankar is likely to start work on his third film with Rajini – to be the sequel to Enthiran – in January next year, soon after Rajini complete the shoot of Kabali. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Terminator of Hollywood, is likely to be pitted as Rajini’s villain in the film, replacing Danny Denzongpa whose character died in Enthiran.
Amy Jackson and another frontline heroine would be pairing up opposite Rajini as his twin heroines in the film which would see A.R. Rahman returning to score music for a Shankar film after missing out in Nanban and I.
The film is to be made in 2-D and 3-D modes. Shankar is said to be planning to shoot non-stop for six months so as to release the film either towards the year-end or in January, 2017.
