Vikram has outscored Vijay Sethupathi at the box-office as his which released along with the Vikram-starrer last Wednesday.
As no other major film was in sight except Anushka’s Rudhramadevi, both Naanum Rowdydhaan and 10 Endradhukulla recorded good returns in theatres in its first five days i.e. over the extended weekend last year due to ‘Ayudha Pooja’, ‘Saraswathi Pooja’ and ‘Moharram’. Today, both the films enter their second week in theatres.
Trade circles say that 10 Endradhukulla has so far collected Rs.1.65 crores in theatres in its first week in Chennai as compared to Rs.1.44 crores collected by Naanum Rowdydhaan during the same period, beating the latter by Rs.0.21 crores. However, Naanum Rowdydhaan appears to be picking up and might put up a better show in the second and succeeding weeks.
Vijay Sethupathi and Nayantara’s performances, lauded by ace director Gautham Vasudev Menon, are huge strengths on which Naanum Rowdydhaan rides.
Menon had words of appreciation for Vignesh Shivan, the director of the film, stating that people would now start to have a ‘re-look’ at his debut directorial venture Poda Podi which starred Simbu and Varalaxmi in the lead and released three years back.
