National award-winning actor Dhanush’s upcoming film Thanga Magan is to release in theatres on 18th December.
Dhanush’s fans are hoping that their favourite star would round off the year 2015, one of the most satisfactory years in his career with successive successes, with another super-hit film which would complete a hat-trick of Tamil hit films in 2015 which started with Anegan and Maari. Even Shamitabh, Dhanush’s lone Hindi film of the year, did well in theatres and was critically acclaimed as well.
Thanga Magan, titled after one of the innumerable super-duper hit films of superstar Rajinikanth which released in the early eighties, is the sequel to Dhanush’s last year’s super-hit film Velaiyilla Pattathari.
It was earlier titled tentatively as VIP 2 but Dhanush faced little problems in getting permission from the producers of Thanga Magan to use the title as he happens to be the son-in-law of Rajinikanth.
Velraj, award-winning cinematographer who debuted as director with Velaiyilla Pattathari, has directed Thanga Magan which has two heroines who had never paired up opposite Dhanush in the past. Samantha and Amy Jackson are the heroines of the film which has music by Anirudh Ravichander and has been produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films.
Now that the film’s shoot had been wrapped up a few days back, Dhanush informed on his Twitter page that the film would hit the screens on 18th December.
The film’s first-look posters, released recently, have met with enthusiastic response from the audiences as well as Dhanush’s fans. Date of audio-launch of Thanga Magan would be announced shortly.
