It seems to be the season of making horror films in Kollywood. After the likes of Taapsee Pannu and Nikki Galrani, it is now the turn of Vishakha Singh to play a ‘ghost’ in her upcoming film.
The lanky and slimly-built actress, who debuted as heroine in Kollywood a few years back with the successful Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya, is now awaiting her next film in the form of Valiba Raja to release in theatres soon. Along with Vishakha, Sethu and Santhanam from the Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya team play major roles in the film.
Vishakha’s next outing would be in the horror film titled as Bayam Oru Payanam. Talking to newspersons recently about her role in the film, a smiling Vishakha said “People have been asking me as to why I took up the role of a ‘ghost’ in this film. I don’t see anything wrong in my choice. Why should I keep on essaying the same kind of roles on screen and get stereotyped?
“I also have a few Hindi films on hand where the case is similar: I’m offered mostly the romantic, running-around-the-trees type of characters. However, my role in Bayam Oru Payanam is entirely different. The film’s shoot has been going on at the scenic Moonar at present. I haven’t applied make-up for my role in the film.
“Why shouldn’t a heroine appear as a ghost on-screen? I’m also asked whether I did the homework right by watching other actresses in similar roles in various films. In fact, I haven’t done these things; I have just performed as my director instructed me and as per my own ideas,” Singh concludes with yet another flooring smile.
