Suriya’s has apparently surpassed Vijay in the pre-release business of his next film 24 which is gearing up for Pongal release next year. The theatrical rights for both Tamil and Telugu versions have been sold in Karnataka for a price of Rs. 6 crores.
It has to be noted that Vijay’s fantasy-thriller Puli, which had Kannada star Sudeep as the villain, was sold for only Rs. 5.55 crores. Now, this has become a new record for Suriya and non-Rajinikanth, non-Shankar films.
Only I, Lingaa and Endhiran are the other films which were sold for more than Rs. 6 crores in Karnataka. The rights have been snapped by Brunda Associates. Directed by Vikram Kumar, the film stars Samantha and Nithya Menen in important roles.
