In recent years, Ajith’s hand-made Biriyani has become as famous as his films: Ajith has, over the years, been treating the crew members, technicians and even the casual labours on the sets of his films to a sumptuous Biriyani on the last day of the film’s shoot. That he cooks and serves to all the Biriyani makes it rather special!
However, Ajith was in for a slight disappointment as Shruti Haasan, heroine of upcoming film Vedhalam, refused to eat the Biriyani made by him. Both Ajith and Shurti Haasan, despite their Brahminical backgrounds, have been known to have a go at non-vegetarian food items.
Shruti shares the appetite for non-vegetarian food with her father, who eats those items despite having been brought up in a typical Brahmin-populated Agraharam in his younger days. However, unlike her father who is an atheist, Shruti Haasan is a firm believer of God and is said to be an ardent devotee of Lord Ganesh.
When the rest of the crew had a go at Ajith’s Biriyani, Shruti Haasan politely refused it saying that she was on a self-imposed eating regimen of eating of no non-vegetarian food. “Though I’m a Brahmin, I eat non-vegetarian food but now that I’m on a strict diet, please excuse from eating this,” Shruti told Ajith who smiled at her saying nothing.
Vedhalam, directed by Siruthai and Veeram fame Siva, brings together Ajith and Shruti Haasan for the first time on-screen.
