Reports emanating from producer-director Shankar’s camp say that Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger has demanded a whopping Rs.100 crores to play superstar Rajinikanth’s villain in Shankar’s upcoming Enthiran sequel. The deal to sign up Arnold as the villain has been delayed due to this exorbitant fee demanded by Arnold, it is said.
It was reported some time back in these columns that Shankar had first thought of signing up Kamal Haasan as Rajini’s villain (in reversal of role as Rajini had played Kamal’s villain during his early days) but though Kamal agreed initially, be backed out of the project later. Shankar then approached Vikram who was ready for the role but later, Shankar had a change of heart and decided to approach Arnold for wider reach.
Lyka Mobiles, producer of Vijay’s Kaththi which is also producing Enthiran 2, is said to be not minding much about Arnold’s fee as it appears determined that it would earn enough profits from the film to compensate for it. This would obviously make the film’s budget shoot up to more than Rs.300 crores, which, again may not be much of a trouble to the production house.
‘Muscle man’ Arnold is evincing a keen interest in being part of the project about which Shankar briefed him when he was in Chennai a few months back for the audio-launch of I. It is also informed that either of the Bollywood hotties – Katrina Kaif or Deepika Padukone – would be roped in as Rajini’s heroine.
