Rumorus emanating from Tollywood say that Priyamani slapped a scribe yesterday when he pestered her with questions of what made her take the decision to continue to feature in ‘item number’ songs in films.
The slapping has become a huge issue with scribes and other Scribes’ Unions planning a massive protest against Priyamani, it is further reported.
National award-winning actress Priyamani, who won the coveted honour for her performance in Ameer’s Karthi-starrer Paruthiveeran, couldn’t somehow make it big in Tamil films despite her beauty, slender frame and her ability to dub in her own voice for her on-screen characters. Lack of offers forced her to seek solace first in Telugu films and later in Kannada films.
She announced some time back that she would be getting married to a Mumbai-based industrialist and even posted pictures of them together on her Twitter account.
It turns out that at a recent press-meet, a scribe asked her why was she appearing in ‘item number’ songs more frequently in the past few years. He also asked her if she was taking up those offers merely to make her presence felt among the audiences.
Apparently angered at the question, Priyamani slapped the scribe hard, it is reported, before telling him to be judicious in his choice of questions. It remains to be seen whether the issue gets buried soon or becomes big.
