It has been officially informed that Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivai may not release on Deepavali this year as was originally planned by its makers. The film’s release might get postponed by a few weeks to release in December on Christmas.
Not dissimilar to director Pa. Ranjith who has landed up the offer to direct a superstar Rajinikanth-starrer in only his third film as director, Karthik Subbaraj has earned praise from critics and movie-goers with his first two directorial ventures Pizza and Jigarthanda which means expectations are high on his third film which has Vijay Sethupathi and Bobby Simha (who played prominent roles in his first two films) in lead roles.
Director-actor SJ Suryah, Kamalini Muherjee and Anjali play significant roles in Iraivi which releases a year after the release in theatres of the critically acclaimed Jigarthanda.
Kamalini, who played Kamal Haasan’s love interest in Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu, returns to Tamil films after a long hiatus. It was predicted that Iraivi might join the Deepavali race with Kamal Haasan, Dhanush and Ajith Kumar’s films but it is not to be the case now.
Queries with the film’s crew revealed that as the script aims at getting the attention of Christian families, it was thought by the maker that it would only be appropriate if the film is released on Christmas.
Both Kamalini and Anjali’s characters have been set up in a nice manner. Out of the heroes, two play brothers. Santhosh Narayanan has scored the film’s music. C.V. Kumar’s ‘Tirukkumaran Entertainment’ has produced the film.
