Even as preparatory work has been going at full-throttle to kick-start the shoot of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming Pa. Ranjith-directed Kabali, speculations have been going on in Kollywood and elsewhere as to who would play Rajini’s heroine in Shankar’s planned sequel to Enthiran which is likely to go to floors from January next year.
The latest name to be mentioned as heroine is Deepika Padukone, who essayed Rajini’s heroine (albeit not in flesh-and-blood mode) in the animation 3-D venture Kochchadaiyaan which released in 2013. Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan played the heroine in Enthiran: The Robot which released in 2010 and later, she got pregnant and is back in shape again but is not said to be under consideration for the sequel.
Last week, reports surfaced in Kollywood stating that Bollywood’s Katrina Kaif might step in as Rajini’s heroine in Enthiran 2. However, it is now said that Deepika Padukone has been ‘finalized’ as the heroine. A formal announcement about the villain, heroine and other cast members and technicians to work in the film is to be made only in December.
Author Jayamohan has jointly penned the film’s script with Shankar. It may be recalled that Jayamohan said some time back that he had completed the scripting process of the film. The shoot of the film is likely to commence in January next year. Though it is now referred to as Enthiran 2, it is said that Shankar has registered an exclusive title with the Producers’ Council for the film.
