Amol Palekar, the multi-faced Bollywood actor-producer, was recently appointed as one of the Jury mmbers as India’s representative to finalize the Oscar Awards and this has given ample hope that this year’s Indian entries would include the record-breaking S.S. Rajamouli’s grand venture Baahubali and the not-so-grand yet impactful Kakka Muttai made by first-timer Manikandan and produced by Dhanush & Vetrimaaran.
The Committee would soon finalize the nominations amid huge hope from Indians that the above-said two films would surely make the final cut.
While Baahubali tells the world about the technological innovations and advancements witnessed by India in terms of film-making, on the contrast, Kakka Muttai deals with a moving emotional aim of two slum-bred kids about their wish to taste the ‘costly’ Pizza at least once in their lives.
No major star or director was associated with Kakka Muttai produced at a moderate budget by the national award-winning combination of Dhanush and Vetrimaaran. Manikandan has not only penned the story, screenplay and dialogues of the film and directed it but had also handled cinematography in a deft manner.
The film collected more than Rs.7 crores in theatres and was branded ‘super-hit’ by trade pundits.
