The much-touted on-screen combination of producer-actor Udhayanidhi and Santhanam might have already become a thing of the past.
The duo, which rocked in films such as Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal and Nannbenda, is not coming together in Udhayanidhi’s untitled new film which he would be producing. Udhayanidhi, for a change, would be teaming up with Vivek in the film.
Break-up between Udhayanidhi and Santhanam wasn’t sparked by any mistrust or misunderstanding but because of Santhanam’s insistence in continuing to play solo leads in films. Santhanam, who plays the lead role in as many as three films now, is said to have told Udhayanidhi that he won’t be available to star in his next film.
In fact, Santhanam is also not part of the cast in Udhayanidhi’s Gethu and Idhayam Murali which are under production. Hansika, who played Udhayanidhi’s heroine in Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, returns as his heroine again for the untitled film which would be shot widely in Chennai, Pollachi and Coimbatore.
Muneenuddin Ahmed of Endrendrum Punnagai fame would be directing the film which has music by Santhosh Narayanan.
Prakash Raj and Radha Ravi play significant roles in the film which is reportedly the Tamil remake of the Bollywood hit film Jolly LLB. The shoot is to commence in a few days’ time and this is the first time that Vivek, who has been in the industry for the pat 26 years, gets to star in a film with Udhayanidhi.
