It is said that veteran actor Sathyaraj, seen recently in a powerful role in S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster hit film Baahubali, might decide to go back to his roots by taking up the offer to play superstar Rajinikanth’s villain in his upcoming film to be directed by Pa. Ranjith.
Controversial Radhika Apte has been roped in to play Rajini’s heroine in the film whose shoot is to commence in a few days’ time. Now that the question of who would be the heroine has been answered, the excitement now obviously is about who would be the villain in the film. Reports say that Sathyaraj may get the nod for the villain’s role.
It turns out that Prakash Raj was Ranjith’s first choice but couldn’t take up the offer as he had already committed to star in other films. Ranjith is said to have decided to opt for Sathyaraj, who played Kattappa in Baahubali and would again be spotted in its sequel to release next year. It, however, remains to be seen whether or not Sathyaraj would accept this offer.
It may be recalled that Sathyaraj, who debuted in films in insignificant roles but graduated to playing Rajini’s villain in many films in the eighties before turning hero in the late eighties, rejected Shankar’s offer to play Rajini’s villain in the super-hit Sivaji: The Boss, an offer which ultimately went to Suman who excelled in the role.
