CNN, the widely respected news channel based in U.S., has lauded Tollywood film-maker S.S. Rajamouli’s recently released Baahubali as Indian cinema’s ‘biggest challenge’ to Hollywood films.
“Indian cinema has made an amazingly colourful film; surprisingly enough, it is not a Bollywood film. A film-maker based in a city (Hyderabad) which lies several hundred kilometers away from Mumbai, home of Bollywood, has made a grand, entertaining film mixing typical Indian tradition and Hollywood’s grandeur/technology: Baahubali,” says an article by CNN.
“AT 40 million US dollars, Baahubali is the most-expensive Indian film to have ever been made; this may not be a huge amount as compared to Hollywood standards. Right from day one, the film has been receiving positive reviews and appreciation from various media. It’s an extra-ordinary thing. Usually, films of such grandeur may lack in script but Baahubali has a solid script.
“Based on traditional Indian moral of ‘good winning over the evil’, Baahubali is a visual treat. In fact, the visual effects seen in the film are certainly a few notches higher than those seen in Hollywood films. Baahuballi is a great technically-rich film and is a huge challenge to Hollywood film-makers,” says the article.
