Ramesh Thilaganathan and J. Vignesh, the kids who have taken Kollywood by storm with their awesome, casual portrayal of two kids yearning to have a bite at a Pizza, have revealed that the tasted Pizza for the first time in their lives only when they were shooting for Kaaka Muttai. “It was a thrill to have our first bite at the Pizza; ultimately, none of us liked it,” the kids say.
Directed by debutnat Manikandan and produced by national award-winning actor Dhanush, Kaaka Muttai has not only won appreciation and laurels at Film Festivals across the globe but has also turned out to be a commercial success.
The film’s growing stature can be sensed by the fact that the Govt. of Karnataka has granted exemption from entertainment tax for the film’s release in the State, the first such honour for a direct Tamil film.
Ramesh and Vignesh, adjudged as the national award-winning ‘best child artistes’, shared their experience on starring in the film. “When I was playing in the Marina beach more than an year back, Manikandan took my photo and a week later, sought my mother’s permission to let me star in the film.
We were given training to act for 40 days before the shoot commenced,” says Vignesh, the elder of the kids, who is in Class X.
“I was photographed while playing in beach and I first thought they were attempting to abduct me. I came to know only late that they wanted me to star in the film.
In fact, both I and Vignesh came to know about Pizza only when the shoot commenced. When we eat the Pizza, we found it very ‘odd’ and didn’t like it,” confesses Ramesh, who is in Class VIII now.
