Following the likes of Sarathkumar, Raghava Lawrence and Suriya, it appears that yet another hero (albeit an aged veteran) might turn a ghost in an upcoming film. Sathyaraj, the veteran actor who has been dabbling in character roles of late, is all set to appear as a ‘ghost’ in son Sibiraj’s next film titled as Jackson Durai.
Dharanidharan, who made last year’s Burma starring Reshmi Menon in the lead, is directing Sibiraj in Jackson Durai, which is the 32-year old Sibiraj’s next film after last year’s super-successful Naaigal Jaakirathai.
In order to suit his role in the film, Sibiraj has shed 10 kilos. Billed as the first-ever ‘period-type horror film’ in the country, it is produced by M.S. Sarvanan in a grand manner.
The film’s shoot commenced in May. Bindu Madhavi, last seen in Kollywood in Tamiluku En Ondrai Aluthavum, plays Sibiraj’s heroine.
Others essaying prominent roles include Sathyaraj, Karunakaran and ‘Naan Kadavul’ Rajendran. Hollywood’s Zachari Coffin plays a prominent role in the film, thereby making his debut in Tamil films. The script has been set in the backdrop of incidents which occurred in the forties.
Huge sets have been erected for the film’s shoot. In keeping with Kollywood’s latest trend of male ‘ghosts’ dominating on-screen, Sathyaraj is likely to play the ‘male ghost’ in the film.
