It is reported in Kollywood that the total budget of superstar Rajinikanth’s next two films to be made by Pa. Ranjith and producer-director Shankar would be Rs.370 crore.
While Ranjith’s Rajini-starrer is to be made at a moderate budget of Rs.70 crore, Rajini’s Shankar-directed film, said to be a sequel to Enthiran: The Robot, is to be made at a whopping cost of Rs.300 crore.
‘Kalaipuli’ Thanu is to produce Rajini’s film to be directed by Pa. Ranjith while producer for Shankar’s Rajini-starrer is yet to be chosen. Lyca Mobiles, which made Kaththi last year, is the front-runner as the film’s producer.
Rumours say that Nayantara might play a prominent role in Ranjith’s untitled Rajini film which is only in the scripting stage at present.
No heroine’s name, though, has been mentioned to star in Shankar’s Rajini-starrer which would be the most expensive Indian film to have been made as on date. In fact, it hasn’t been confirmed whether it would be the Enthiran sequel or a film with a new script.
Vikram or Shah Rukh Khan might play the villain in Shankar’s planned film opposite Rajini. It is also said that if Shah Rukh played the villain in the Tamil version, Rajini might return the favour by essaying the villain’s role in the Hindi version. Nothing, though, has been finalized so far. Ranjith and Shankar’s Rajini starrer are to release on Pongal Day in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
