Popular television anchor Ramya, who debuted as an actress with ace film-maker Mani Ratnam’s recent hit film O Kadhal Kanmani, says that she would continue to balance her career as an actress as well as a small-screen host. “I would, however, try to portray only positive characters,” she asserts.
Even as Ramya has been getting appreciation and accolades for her small yet impactful role in the Dulquer Salmaan-Nithya Menen starrer which released a fortnight back, she has also revealed another side of her – as a talented and graceful dancer – recently on television during a reality show when she danced for the chart-busting Danga Maari song from Dhanush’s Anegan.
“I have always wanted to become a director; I have made a couple of short-films during my college days. Though I received offers to star in films earlier, I didn’t take them up. I couldn’t, however, say ‘no’ to an offer to star in a Mani Ratnam film as I’m a huge fan of his films. Starring in films is a huge challenge; I’d choose my roles and won’t play anti-heroine’s roles,” says Ramya.
Meanwhile, rumours say that Ramya’s marriage is on the rocks as her husband is not so happy with her decision to foray into films. The couple has decided to file divorce suits separately, it is reliably learnt.
