Two high-profile films of completely different genre are to release today. As already reported, those in business are choreographer-turned-director Raghava Lawrence and ace director Mani Ratnam.
Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani which has Dulquer Salmaan, son of Mammootty and who debuted as hero in Tamil with last year’s Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, and comeback actress Nithya Menen, who has almost been forgotten by Tamil audiences. Both the films have chosen a perfect day as the Class X and XII examinations have just ended in the State.
While Lawrence’s Kanchana 2, which has Taapsee Pannu opposite him, releases in 350 halls, Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani has managed only 250 halls. Sree Thenandal Films and Studio Green are distributing the films in the above-order.
Studio Greeen is said to have taken a conscious decision to release O Kadhal Kanmani mostly in ‘A’ and ‘B’ centres (comprising mostly urban theatres) while Kanchana 2 has bagged more screens in rural areas.
