Remember Mallika, who debuted as an actress in Tamil films with Cheran’s Autograph more than a decade back in 2004? The actress went on to star in many Tamil films, mostly in sister’s roles and couldn’t make much headway in Kollywood as a heroine. Her last Tamil film was Chennaiyil Oru Naal in 2013 where she essayed a brief role.
She has now taken up the avatar of a film-maker in her native Malayalam language. Her first film as a director has been titled as Pazhaniyile Kanakam which also has her playing a rather important role.
Bhavana plays the heroine in the film whose script reportedly faces the harassment actresses (frontline and supporting actresses) face from some crew members during shooting schedules of films.
Mallika reportedly tried to get prominent actresses to portray the role which she now plays in the film.
However, after listening to the script and the role, they refused; after getting fed up with her search for a suitable actress to play the role, Mallika decided to play the role herself.
Mollywod circles say that when released in theatres, the film is likely to rake up a huge controversy.
