It might sound amazing but it is a fact: names of as many as seven leading directors are mentioned in Kollywood circles as probable directors of superstar Rajinikanth’s next film. Rajini’s K.S. Ravikumar-directed Lingaa released in theatres last December and did very well in theatres in India and abroad, notwithstanding claims by a few distributors that they didn’t make profit in taking up the film’s distribution and release.
Ascar Ravichandran went on record recently that he wasn’t producing Rajini’s next film; however, he met Rajini recently and discussed several things which were not revealed to the press. AGS Entertainment and Eros International are referred to as the probable producers of Rajini’s next film. Directors in the reckoning to direct Rajini are: Shankar, A.R. Murugadoss, Hari, P. Vasu, K.S. Ravikumar, Karthik Subbaraj and Rajamouli.
Shankar has already made super-duper hits such as Sivaji: The Boss and Enthiran: The Robot with Rajini in the past. He also has the script for the Enthiran sequel ready and is said to be waiting for Rajini’s nod to get going. Vasu, who has had hit films such as Mannan, Uzhaippali, Chandramukhi and Panakkaran, is said to have met Rajini recently and narrated a script to him. He is also waiting for Rajini’s nod, it is reported.
Hari, the director who makes his films in a methodical manner, had claimed earlier that his Ayya was penned with Rajini in mind. He claims he has another tailor-made script for Rajini. A.R. Murugadoss is also said to have a script fitting Rajini’s image ready and is said to have narrated the script to Rajini during one of his recent meetings with him.
Rajini once said that he wanted to work with Rajamouli of Naan Ee fame. It is said that Rajini might start work in Rajamouli’s film once his Baahubali hits the screens in summer. Jigarthanda fame Karthik Subbaraj was personally invited by Rajini who lauded his efforts in making the film which has given rise to speculations that Rajini might work in Subbaraj’s next film!
