At last, there is some good news for all those fans of actress Anjali. One of the very few actresses in Kollywood who have the courage and the voice to dub in their own voices for their characters in films, Anjali is on a comeback spree.
Her last Tamil film was Vathikuchi which released in 2012. She had taken a sabbatical from Tamil films as she faced a horde of personal problems which made her shift her base from Chennai to Hyderabad.
Her Madha Gaja Raja opposite Vishal and directed by Sundar C, has been lying in cold storage without releasing in theatres for the past few years, making her isolation from Tamil fans complete.
In between, she danced for an ‘item number’ in Suriya’s Singam II. She now has a couple of films in Tamil and a film each in Telugu and Kannada. Appa Takkaru is her first film with ‘Jayam’ Ravi. Trisha plays a significant role in the film which is directed by Suraj, who knows the pulse of commercial cinema and has delivered a few hits in the past.
Mapla Singam is her second film opposite Vimal after the super-hit Kalakalappu which released in 2012. Speaking on her comeback, Anjali sounds confident.
“When I first debuted in films a few years back, I had specific characteristics which deserted me as I started feeling my way in the industry. Circumstances and some personal experiences have, no doubt, had a telling effect on me.
“I am certainly not the Anjali of yore; I have changed a lot. Earlier, I used to react strongly to the success and failure of my films. Now, in the changed scenario wherein I have started maintaining a balance in everything, I have learnt to view success and failure equally. This feeling has made me happier than ever.
“I shall continue to star in films as I have come out of my personal turbulences,” she added. As a parting shot, she said that she wasn’t a party animal and attended only few parties.
