It is reported that Sridevi, former ‘queen bee’ of Bollywood and Kollywood and who is making a comeback in Tamil films through her upcoming film Puli, helped her co-star Hansika in memorizing lengthy dialogues after sensing Hansika’s difficulties in reading those dialogues in Tamil.
Hansika plays one of Vijay’s two heroines in the film. Shruti Haasan is the other heroine in Puli which is Chimbu Deven’s first film with Vijay. Billed as a fantasy film, a part of the script has Hansika playing a princess who is the daughter of queen Sridevi.
Hansika, who had been getting only brief dialogues in all her films, was given a half-page full of Tamil dialogues by Deven who asked her to memorize it as soon as possible.
Akin to a girl preparing for her exams, Hansika tried for two long hours to memorize the dialogues. As she was too tense, her effort went in vain as she could hardly remember what she memorized.
Sridevi, who was around, helped Hansika by telling her how to speak the dialogues simply and with expressions. Thanks to Sridevi’s guidance, Hansika could remember the lengthy dialogues and uttered them properly during the shoot.
It is another matter that her voice won’t be heard in the film as it would be replaced by her favouring dubbing artiste’s voice. However, Hansika’s effort came in appreciation from the crew members.
Hansika said that after Aranmanai, she had scope to perform in Puli. “More than anything else, I feel it is a dream to be acting alongside Sridevi, who had been my childhood role model as an actress,” said Hansika.
