After eight years, Karthi is donning the lead role in a village based film. The film has been titled Komban. Muthaiah who had earlier directed Sasikumar starrer Kutty Puli has directed the film. Lakshmi Menon has paired with Karthi.
Others in the cast are Raj Kiran, Kovai Sarala, Thambi Ramaiah and Karunaas. G V Prakash Kumar has composed the music. Studio Green has produced the film. The audio CD of Komban was released yesterday. Except the heroine Lakshmi Menon, others had participated in this event. She was not able to participate because she was attending her Plus 2 examinations.
Karthi speaking on this occasion said, “After Paruthiveeran I was not able to act in any village based stories because I have to act more than that. There were so many expectations. I was scared that whether I will be able to fulfill the desires of my fans and audience.
In Paruthiveeran I donned the negative role while in Komban I have donned the positive role. I was very careful that the Paruthiveeran shade should not be there anywhere in Komban. I use to act every sequence before the assistant directors to ensure there was no resemblance of Paruthiveeran.
Raj Kiran sir has donned the role of my father-in-law. I am his son-in-law. Throughout the film I use to make fun of him. Finally I will call him uncle. Lots of films about love marriage have been produced. This film speaks about the love that comes after the marriage. There will be romance, affection and action in this film.
Lakshmi Menon and Raj Kiran who have shared the screen with me have acted superbly. If Madras was about Chennai soil than Komban will be about Ramanathapuram soil.” The film Komban is about the emotional bondage between father-in-law and son-in –law.
