Jeeva had written the story, dialogue, and screenplay and directed the film with full zest. After his untimely and unfortunate demise, his assistant in cinematography, Srinivas took over the reins. The film’s shooting will be complete by the end of June. The audio will be released in the first week of June.
Actress Sangeetha enacts the lead role. Many Kollywood heroes are very famous for living the roles and going an extra mile to make it look realistic. Among heroines who do the same, Sangeetha is a name to reckon with. She is an actress who does a lot of homework for her roles.
In this movie, this assiduous actress showed how far her dedication can stretch. There was a scene which required her to act in a waist-high turbid puddle and the shooting for this was scheduled in the late evening. She did her job without any hesitation. Next day, she was running a temperature, but she ignored her fever and completed the shooting for the day.
The supporting cast of this movie comprises big names such as Girish Karnad, Kotta Srinivas Rao, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Rajalakshmi, Prem, Manobala and the likes. Music is by Ilayaraja. Kavignar Vaali, Mu. Mehta, Vishali Kannadasan, Muthulingam, and Pazhani Bharati have penned lyrics for the songs. Famous Thottadharani is the art director.
Even though the film explores the subject of devadasis, it does not compromise on the commercial aspect. The film has seven songs, of which two are ‘kuthu’ songs; the film also has rib-tickling comedy scenes; Chinni Jayanth, Karunas, M.S. Bhaskar, Singamuthu, “Crane” Manohar and “Scissor” Manohar form the team who will make you laugh.
With the right mix of assiduous work and glamour from a talented actress like Sangeetha, strong supporting cast, comedy, and good music, Dhanam sure looks very promising.
