Savithiri , the heroine of actor-director S.J. Surya’s recently released Isai, was appreciated by the critics and movie-goers not only for her hour-glass figure but for her ability to emote well in important sequences in the film.
The 26-year old actress, who has done just a film each in Hindi, Marathi and Tamil, is not on a signing spree. Lauded by critics for managing to look ultra-glamour in saree, Savithiri was speaking to a popular regional weekly when she revealed without any hesitation that she hasn’t yet signed up her second film in Tamil.
In an industry where even out-of-favour actresses are keen to show themselves as very busy, Savithiri doesn’t feel the need to do so. “Looking and appearing glamours in films is also part of the acting profession, I feel. Moreover, I appeared glamourous in Isai as the script demanded it. The glamour-filled look in the first half aptly compensated for the performance-oriented second-half, isn’t it?
“I have my own Lakshman Rekha and won’t star in an obscene manner. In fact, I have been hearing so many scripts but haven’t yet decided as to what would be my second film in Tamil. I’m expecting a heroine-oriented script to fall into my lap and I’d make a decision soon in this regard,” she says and asserts that she would persist with the name of ‘Savithiri’ for the sake of her Tamil fans.
