Washermen community has announced that those involved in the profession of washing clothes would gherao halls screening Dhanush’s Anegan when the film hit screens across the State from tomorrow.
A meeting of the Tirukurippu Thondar Mahasabha, held in Udankudi Villikudiyiiruppu, has taken the above-said decision. State president Mariselvam and Tuticorin president Mayandi were special invitees at the meeting which discussed at length the issues face by the Mahasabha.
A resolution passed at the meeting called for ‘gheraoing’ (laying siege) to the cinema halls in Chennai and elsewhere which would be screening Dhanush-Amyra Dastur’s Anegan which releases on 13th February.
“The film has sequences insulting the washermen community; unless these sequences were delted form the film, we won’t allow the film to be screened,” the resolution said.
It may be recalled that already, washermen from Madurai had complained about the film’s contents to the Madurai City police commissioner.
