Producer-director A.R. Murugadoss has revealed that he has been waiting for years for Ajith Kumar to star in their second venture together.
Years ago, Murugaodss debuted as director in Kollywood with the super-hit film Dheena when an already established top hero Ajith Kumar trusted his instincts and agreed to play the lead role in the rank newcomer’s film. As they say, the rest was ‘history’ as the diminutive Murugadoss went on from strength to strength and directed the likes of Suriya, Vijayakanth and Vijay.
In a recent interview, Murugadoss has said “I would always remain grateful to Ajith Sir for giving me the opening in Kollywood. After 2001, whenever I was to start a new film, I would always sound Ajith to star in it but he would invariably be busy with his pre-committed projects and won’t be able to accommodate my request.
“For some reasons, we haven’t been able to work together after 2001; either I’m busy to sign him up or he is too busy to commit himself to star in my film. I have a script which would be tailor-made for Ajith’s on-screen persona. If he gives me the nod, I would postpone all my pre-committed projects and would start work on our second film,” says Murugadoss.
Meanwhile, Ajith’s Yennai Arindhaal is slated for worldwide release next Friday after which he is likely to star work on a new film to be directed by Siva of Veeram fame.
