Reports from Tollywood say that actress Anjali has shocked the producer of an upcoming Telugu film by demanding Re.1 crore to dance for an ‘item number’ in the film.
Anjali is on a comeback mode in Telugu and Tamil films after facing a tumultuous one-and-a-half years during when her personal life underwent a sea-change. She quit her aunt Barathi Devi’s Chennai residence and shifted to Andhra Pradesh.
Reports even spoke of her impending marriage to an industrialist. Now that she has put her personal problems behind her back, Anjali is concentrating on her career with renewed vigour.
She has Appa Takkaru opposite ‘Jayam’ Ravi and Mapla Singam opposite Vimal and has been busy with her Kannada and Telugu film projects as well. Looking more radiant and glamourous than ever, Anjali danced for an ‘item number’ in Suriya’s Singam II some time back and also gave enough hints through her role in Sundar C’s Kalakalappu that she was game for taking on glam-filled roles.
She was reportedly approached by the producer of an upcoming Ram Charan Teja-starrer to dance for an ‘item number’ in the film for which she demanded Re.1 crore.
Even Tamannah, who is a frontline actress in Telugu films, was paid only Rs.50 lakh for an ‘item number’ in last year’s Alludu Seenu. This being the case, it is not likely that the producer would relent to Anjali’s demand of Re.1 crore as her fee for the dance number!
