Washer-men from Madurai submitted a petition to Madurai city police commissioner demanding that the theatrical release of national award winning actor Dhanush’s upcoming film Anegan be banned.
Madurai-based advocates Mani and Ramesh met the Madurai police commissioner Sanjay Mathur and submitted a memorandum on behalf of 50-odd washermen seeking bn on the release of K.V. Anand-directed Anegan which has debutant Amyra Dastur as Dhanush’s heroine.
“Anegan is to release soon in theatres. We hear that there are dialogues and sequences in the film degrading and demeaning women from washermen community.
Therefore, we seek a ban on the release of the film in theatres in the State. Action should also be taken against K.V. Anand for penning the dialogues and actors Dhanush and Jegan for speaking the dialogues on screen,” the petition said.
Mathur assured them of appropriate action.
