Director Chimbu Deven, who is making a fantasy film with Vijay in the lead, has announced that the film has been titled as Puli. This is the first time that Vijay and Chimbu are working together.
Meanwhile, publicity agents of Kaththi, Vijay’s last film, haven’t done any good by publishing name of ‘Subashkaran’, the film’s producer in its 75th Day posters, blatantly telling Vijay’s fans about the producer’s identity.
It may be recalled that the film’s publicity was planned in such a manner as to hide the name of Subashkaran or Lyca Mobiles (the company that he owns) after a controversy erupted before the film’s release.
Coming close on the heels of the success of Vijay’s latest film Kaththi, Puli has Hansika and Shruti Haasan as the two heroines opposite Vijay. Sridevi, former Kollywood and Bollywood queen, plays a significant role in the film and returns to Tamil film after a long time. Devi Sri Prasad and ‘Natty’ Nataraj are the music director and cinematographer of the film which is produced by Vijay’s manager Selvakumar.
The film reportedly had titles such as Maaresan, Garudaa and Porvaal but the title of Puli has now been finalized. The film would release in theatres on Tamil New year day which falls in April. The film is likely to release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi (who would watch Vijay’s dubbed Hindi film?) simultaneously.
Vijay spoke to S.J. Suryah who had earlier registered the title of Puli with the Producers’ Council. When Vijay said that he needed the title, Suryah immediately agreed to part with it.
This is not the first time that a Vijay-starrer gets the title from Suriyah; his earlier film Villu by Prabhu Deva also had a similar change in its title!
