Kaaviya Thalaivan, the period-type venture starring Siddharth, Prithviraj, Vedhicka and Anaika Soti in lead roles, is all set to hit the silver screens next Friday (28th November). The distributors who have taken up the film’s release are planning to release the film in an unusual manner.
Usually, medium/low-budget films are distributed for release to theatres on ‘minimum guarantee’ or ‘percentage’ basis. However, distributors of Kaaviya Thalaivan, directed by Vasanthabalan, have decided to deviate from the usual manner and are releasing the film on the basis ‘non-returnable advance’ wherein they would be paid a specified sum by theatres and multiplexes screening the film.
If the film collects beyond the ‘advance’, the profit would be equally shared by both the distributor and the theatre-owners. As this sort of arrangement suits both the parties, distributors in Madurai and Trichy are adapting this strategy as they had to cough up lot of money to screen films on ‘minimum guarantee’ basis. As the new system is likely to benefit them and the theatres, they believe this system would soon become the norm.
A.R. Rahman’s music is said to be a major plus for the film and it remains to be seen whether the Oscar wizard has it in his music to prop up the film which doesn’t boast of major stars!
