Soon after completing Venkat Prabhu’s Masss, Suriya has committed himself to starring in a film to be directed by Vikram Kumar.
Vikram Kumar debuted as director in Kollwood more than a decade back with the Simbu-Trisha starrer Alai which didn’t do well at the box-office. He then followed it up with the thriller Yaavarum Nalam six years later. Fresh from the success of his latest directorial venture Manam in Telugu, Vikram is now directing Suriya in a film which has been titled as 24.
The shoot of Masss, which has Suriya, Nayantara and Amy Jackson in lead roles, has just entered its final stages. After making the not-so-successful Biriyani with Karthi last year, Venkat Prabhu has now roped in the elder brother (Suriya) to try and get back to his old self. Venkat has a high percentage of hits and except Biriyani, all his previous films had been super-hit films at the box-office.
To be made bilingual simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, 24 will have music by A.R. Rahman, who last scored music for a Suriya-starrer in 2006 for Sillunu Oru Kaadhal. Vikaram had narrated his script to Suriya a few months back but the later had asked him to wait as he had already committed to star in Venkat Prabhu’s film. Vinod would be the cinematographer of the film.
Suriya would be the producing the film, billed as an action-adventure thriller, under his home production ‘2-D Entertainment’. The shoot of the film is likely to commence in January.
